Steven "Nemo" Nemerovski

As a speaker, college professor, political lobbyist, TV show host and author, Steven H. Nemerovski has established himself as a leading expert on how to fix this nation’s dysfunctional, polarized political system — with an emphasis on establishing an effective, competitive third party.

He teaches a course titled, “Advocacy and The Legislative Process.” This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the legislative process, the role of advocacy, and the tools needed to navigate successful outcomes. Professor Nemerovski, as an adjunct professor, previously taught this course at Columbia University in New York City. In 2018, he’s scheduled to teach this course at UCLA.

As a speaker, he captivates audiences with his innovative solutions for fixing the dysfunction and polarization running rampant in our current political system. Professor Nemerovski advocates starting on the local, grass-roots level and outlines the steps necessary for changing the incumbency protection built into and perpetuated through the legislative process, namely: campaign finance, ballot access, redistricting and voting rights. He asserts incumbent legislators from both parties pass legislation designed to virtually guarantee re-election by making it extremely difficult for a challenger to mount a serious campaign.

Professor Nemerovski is intimately acquainted with the inner workings of politics, having spent the greater part of his career in law, government and politics. He was the Parliamentarian for the Illinois House of Representatives (1995-96) and is an expert in legislative process. As an attorney in government service, Professor Nemerovski was General Counsel to the Illinois Housing Development Authority (1986-92), Special Counsel to The Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives (1996-97), and outside general counsel to various state agencies in Illinois. He also served as Special Counsel to the Chief Executive Officer of Chicago Public Schools (1997-2000). His political experience includes serving as campaign manager for three campaigns for candidates seeking election to the Illinois House, and he has consulted on many other campaigns.

He’s currently the President of Knell Consulting, Inc., a firm specializing in advocacy at the state level in Illinois and at the federal level in Washington, D.C. Professor Nemerovski has represented a wide variety of clients while generally specializing in healthcare. He’s best known for his work representing hospitals that disproportionately serve Medicaid patients, including the Association of Safety-net Community Hospitals — an organization he created and has represented since 2004.

Professor Nemerovski is actively engaged in efforts to confront and develop solutions for political dysfunction and polarization in the American political system. He produces the “None of The Above” television programming on Grassroots TV in Aspen, CO. He’s also the author of “Third Party,” a series of political novels. “Third Party Volume I: Starting in The Middle” was published in 2010 and “Third Party Volume II: Strange Bedfellows” was released in 2016. The third and final volume in the series is in the works.
